Google Rolls Out "Learn About" AI for Personalized Learning

Google Rolls Out

Internet giant Google has announced a new experimental AI learning assistant called 'Learn About'This is built based on the company's LearnLM AI model. The innovation relates to a new chatbot that attempts to tailor its support toward the educational objectives of unique users in one-on-one guidance through learning.

In contrast to AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini, Learn About organises data in a visually engaging format, using interactive lists, quizzes, and additional information boxes that provide definitions and context. The chatbot also suggests related articles and videos to offer a more comprehensive understanding of each topic.

Targeted primarily at educational research, Learn About sources information from reliable educational platforms. For instance, while Google Gemini draws data from Wikipedia for general questions, The Verge reported that Learn About cited Physics Forums, an academic site, when asked about the size of the universe.

The Learn About chatbot is available on the web as an experimental feature, currently limited to select regions. While it is not yet available in India, broader access is expected following the testing phase.

In more related news, it's believed Google will upgrade the document understanding features of its Gemini Live. A report at Android Authority notes that the latest beta version of the Google app contains code indicating an add-on functionality to upload files and subsequently receive context-specific responses via the Gemini Live channel. This feature, scheduled to be rolled out upon its implementation, will enable users to have their uploaded documents identified, and prompts by the Gemini AI would ask the user to open them for further exploration within the Gemini Live interface for more immersive experiences.
